No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Election Code, Chapter 20 which requires the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to provide each person who applies for a driver license or identification card at a DPS office or online at the agency’s website an opportunity to complete a voter registration application form. The bill also requires the Secretary of State (SOS) to prescribe additional procedures to implement this section. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.

 

DPS and the SOS anticipate no significant fiscal impact to their agencies.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
