FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB381 by Callegari (Relating to the use of certain voting equipment in an election that does not involve a federal office.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow political subdivisions with less than 5,000 in population to not have to meet certain accessibility requirements for voting equipment. The bill would be effective September 1, 2009.
Local Government Impact
Small political subdivisions that do not own voting equipment that meets accessibility requirements would not have to rent equipment, and purchase supplies which could result in a savings depending on the number of elections held annually.
