LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 18, 2009

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB383 by Heflin (Relating to county bail bond board meetings in certain counties.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code to require the county bail bond board in a county with a population of less than 50,000 to meet at least once each quarter at the call of the presiding officer.

Under current statute, all counties' bail bond boards are required to meet at least once a month and at other times at the call of the presiding officer. If a board in a smaller county is allowed to meet less often, there would be a small savings in meeting-related expenses.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
