No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Under provisions of the bill, the Higher Education Coordinating Board, with consultation of the Texas Historical Commission, will maintain a registry that includes each institution of higher education that is named after an established historical figure of the state. The governing board of an institution of higher education included on the registry may not change the name of the institution in a manner that removes the name of the established historical figure from the name of the institution. Any costs associated with this bill would be absorbed within current resources.
