LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 3, 2009

TO:
Honorable Todd Hunter, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB447 by Villarreal (Relating to liability for failure to comply with a child support lien, court order, or notice of levy.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code and create a new liability for certain acts in connection with a child support lien. To the extent the bill would amend court procedures and increase any additional child support collections, it is assumed that any additional costs for the Office of the Attorney General or the courts could be absorbed within existing state resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
