HB498 by McClendon (Relating to the creation of a commission to investigate and prevent wrongful convictions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would create the Texas Innocence Commission to investigate all post-conviction exonerations.

 

Appointed members of the commission are not entitled to compensation but are entitled to reimbursement of the membersí travel expenses.  The Texas Legislative Council, the Legislative Budget Board, and the University of Texas at Austin shall assist the commission in performing the commissionís duties.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
