No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize certain counties that have abolished the office of county treasurer to appoint a payroll officer to handle certain duties. The bill would require approval by a county commissioners court before a member of a sheriff's office in a county with a population greater than 75,000 may be paid the salary prescribed for performing certain duties for which the member was not originally hired.

The bill would authorize a county with a population greater than 475,000 but less than one million to purchase specific stop-loss coverage as opposed to the requirements related to coverage established in Section 157.002(f), Local Government Code.
