Honorable Jeff Wentworth, Chair, Senate Committee on Jurisprudence
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB608 by Castro (Relating to posttrial psychological counseling for jurors in a criminal trial or juvenile adjudication hearing involving graphic evidence or testimony.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would authorize a juvenile board, with the approval of the commissioners court of the county, to approve a program in which the victim assistance coordinator may offer not more than 10 hours of post-trial psychological counseling for a juror or an alternate juror in an adjudication hearing involving graphic evidence or testimony and who requests the counseling within a certain time period.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. It is assumed that a juvenile board would not approve a program unless associated costs could be absorbed within existing resources.
