LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 6, 2009

TO:
Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB608 by Castro (Relating to posttrial psychological counseling for jurors in a criminal trial or juvenile adjudication hearing involving graphic evidence or testimony.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a juvenile board to approve a program in which the victim assistance coordinator may offer not more than 10 hours of post-trial psychological counseling for a juror or an alternate juror in an adjudication hearing involving graphic evidence or testimony and who requests the counseling within a certain time period.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. It is assumed that a juvenile board would not approve a program unless associated costs could be absorbed within existing resources.
