No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and provide that the Attorney General conduct a study of the effectiveness of the James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Act. It is assumed that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing state resources.
