TO: | Honorable Frank Corte, Jr., Chair, House Committee on Defense & Veterans' Affairs |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB618 by Corte (Relating to privileged parking for certain veterans.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to specify that a vehicle that displays an Air Force Cross or Distinguished Service Cross, the Army Distinguished Service Cross, the Navy Cross, or the Medal of Honor specialty license plate is exempt from the payment of a parking fee collected through a parking meter charged by a governmental authority other than federal government when the vehicle is operated by the person who registered the vehicle or by certain veterans.
Based on the analysis of the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
