LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2009

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB643 by Zerwas (Relating to the qualifications of surgical technologists; providing penalties.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code by adding a chapter that would specify qualifications for surgical technologists at health facilities that are licensed by the Department of State Health Services or owned or operated by the state. The agency indicates that adoption of rules would be necessary to implement the provisions of the bill but costs could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
