IN RE:
HB775 by Miklos (Relating to the penalty for theft of a central air-conditioning unit.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Penal Code to make theft of a central air-conditioning unit punishable as a felony of the third degree. Theft is currently punishable at all offense levels depending upon the type and value of property stolen. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009 and apply to offenses committed on or after that date. It is assumed that the bill would not significantly affect the operations of state or local government.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
