No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends parts of Chapter 160, Family Code to allow for gestational agreements to involve an intended parent instead of parents; it also removes the requirement that intended parents be married to each other. It is assumed that any costs to the Department of State Health Services related to issuance of birth certificates can be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
