Honorable Jim McReynolds, Chair, House Committee on Corrections
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB867 by Aycock (Relating to the transfer of certain state property from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to the City of Burnet.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to donate and transfer 2.259 acres of land to the City of Burnet. The land must be used by the City of Burnet in a way that benefits the public interest of the state, or the property automatically reverts to TDCJ. Any transaction fees from implementing the provisions of the bill would be paid by the City of Burnet.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, it would take effect September 1, 2009.
Local Government Impact
Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
