IN RE:
HB871 by Farrar (Relating to the method of mailing notice a municipal management district may use to notify a property owner about a scheduled hearing.), As Engrossed
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a municipal management district to use a method other than certified mail for notifying a property owner about a scheduled hearing. Current statute requires the use of certified mail, return receipt requested. Flexibility in options would allow a district to use a less expensive method of notice, if available and timely.
Local Government Impact
Savings would depend on the number of property owners to be notified and the difference in cost between certified mail and the chosen alternative. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
