May 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joe Straus, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB962 by Guillen (Relating to the purchase of library goods and services by public junior colleges.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

The bill would exempt public community colleges' acquisition of certain library materials from the contracting requirements defined in Education Code 44.031.  The fiscal impact to local community colleges districts would depend on the sorts of library materials/acquisitions contracts negotiated by individual districts.
