No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
This bill would exempt students with limited English proficiency (LEP) from the administration of state assessments for a period of up to one year, beginning on the first day of instruction of the first full school year of enrollment in a school. The bill would allow recent unschooled immigrants to be exempted from the administration of state assessments for up to four additional years.
Local Government Impact
School districts may have some administrative costs related to having to track LEP students with separate methodologies for state and federal accountability purposes.
