No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to the discharge of a jury under certain circumstances in a criminal case. The bill would clarify the procedure regarding the jury in criminal cases in which a member of the jury cannot continue as a juror after the charge has been read to the jury. To the extent the bill would modify court proceedings, no significant increase in judicial workloads or fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
