No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill makes modifications to the diabetes mellitus registry pilot project required by House Bill 2132, Eightieth Legislature, Regular Session, 2007. The bill requires the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to issue a report on the diabetes mellitus registry pilot no later than December 1, 2010. The report shall include an evaluation of the effectiveness of the pilot and a recommendation to continue, expand, or eliminate the pilot program.

The agency indicates any cost can be absorbed within existing resources.
 
The act would take effect September 1, 2009 and would expire September 1, 2011.
