FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 6, 2009

TO:
Honorable Pete Gallego, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1372 by Shelton (Relating to the definition of victim in relation to certain crime victims' rights.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the definition of "victim" as it relates to the rights of crime victims to include a person who is the victim of the offense of trafficking of persons.

It is anticipated that the various agencies that are responsible for providing services to crime victims under the Crime Victims' Bill of Rights could absorb within existing resources any additional workload costs that may result from implementing provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
