No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Government Code, Section 661.918(b) which states a peace officer is entitled to receive injury leave, without deduction in salary and without being required to use compensatory time or other type of leave, for an injury sustained due to the nature of the officer's duties and that occurs during the course of the officer's duty except when the officer's own gross negligence contributed to injury under the section or if the injury was related to the performance of routine office duties. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.

The Department of Public Safety, the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, and the Parks and Wildlife Department anticipate no significant fiscal impact to the agencies from implementing the provisions of the bill.
