FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 21, 2009

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1570 by Thompson (Relating to reimbursement under preferred provider benefit plans for services provided by licensed podiatrists.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Insurance Code to require preferred providor plans to utilize the same methodology to calculate the payment or reimbursement by contract to a podiatrist as the methodology to calculate the payment or reimbursement by contract to a physician. The Texas Department of Insurance indicates that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
