LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Burt R. Solomons, Chair, House Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1604 by Turner, Sylvester (Relating to this state's goal for energy efficiency, including load management and demand response in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Utilities Code to establish that load management be included as an energy efficiency program option. The bill would require the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to adopt rules to modify its energy efficiency rules.

The PUC anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
