LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 27, 2009

TO:
Honorable Tommy Merritt, Chair, House Committee on Public Safety

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1619 by Farrar (Relating to format, appearance, and contents of a driver's license, commercial driver's license, or personal identification certificate issued by the Department of Public Safety.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require that each driver's license, personal identification certificate, and commercial driver's license must be in the same format, have the same appearance and orientation, contain the same type of information, and not include any information not authorized or required. The bill would take effect on September 1, 2009.

This analysis assumes that any fiscal impact resulting from implementing the provisions of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within the Department of Public Safety's appropriations.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
