IN RE: | HB1622 by Giddings (Relating to a grant program to provide children at risk of hunger or obesity with increased access to nutritious foods.), As Engrossed |
The bill would require the Department of Agriculture to develop and implement a children's access to nutritious food program, from funds appropriated for that purpose, to award grants to nonprofit organizations for the purpose of allowing food banks to provide children at risk of hunger or obesity with access to nutritious food outside the school day.
The agency estimates there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
