LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 29, 2009

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1695 by Turner, Sylvester (Relating to the requirement that electric utilities create and implement a plan for infrastructure improvement and maintenance.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would require the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to adopt new rules, review plans for infrastructure improvements and maintenance from electric utilities, and hold a hearing, if necessary. The PUC estimates that the duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

Though there could be some additional costs for reporting requirements, those costs are not anticipated to be significant.
