No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code by requiring the Governor, on recommendation of the Adjutant General, to appoint a deputy adjutant general for army and a deputy adjutant general for air. The bill would further require the Adjutant General to appoint three assistant adjutant generals for army and one assistant adjutant general for air. The bill would require the assistant adjutant general positions to be paid with federal funds and be filled by regular part-time Texas National Guard members. The bill would allow the Adjutant General to appoint an assistant adjutant general for every 5,000-person increase in the Texas Army National Guard personnel from the number of personnel as of September 1, 2009, and an additional assistant adjutant general for air for every 2,000-person increase in Texas Air National Guard personnel from the number of personnel as of September 1, 2009.
