LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 4, 2009

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1799 by Bohac (Relating to information that must be included on certain electric bills.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require retail electric providers to include on a residential customer's bill a statement directing the customer to the Public Utility Commission's (PUC) Power-to-Choose website. The bill would require the PUC to adopt rules to implement these provisions. The provisions of the bill would expire on September 1, 2011.

The PUC anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
