HB1870 by Madden (Relating to the manner in which inmates may receive certain cash payments on discharge or release from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to enter into a contract to make payments to inmates who have been released via a prepaid debit card. The contract with the financial institution is required to be at no cost to the state.

The agency would be able to carry out duties related to the bill with existing resources.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
