TO: | Honorable Tommy Merritt, Chair, House Committee on Public Safety |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB1988 by McReynolds (Relating to the duties of a peace officer in connection with the suspension of a driver's license for a failure to pass a blood or breath test for intoxication or the presence of alcohol.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require a peace officer to make and attach to a temporary driving permit a photocopy of any driver's license taken from a driver who is arrested for certain intoxication offenses involving operation of a motor vehicle.
Based on analysis by the Department of Public Safety, it is assumed that costs associated with implementation could be absorbed within existing resources.
