Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2009

TO:
Honorable Garnet Coleman, Chair, House Committee on County Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2054 by Rodriguez (Relating to the conditions of employment for firefighters employed by certain districts and entities; providing penalties.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Chapter 179 to the Local Government Code to authorize the establishment of civil service for firefighters employed by certain emergency services districts.

Based on the applicability criteria within the bill, it would affect four of the emergency services districts in Travis County only.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
