LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 13, 2009

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2113 by Walle (Relating to the holidays for members of fire and police departments in certain municipalities.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 142, Local Government Code, to provide that a fire fighter or a police officer employed by a department that has adopted the chapter are entitled to a paid day off from working on September 11 of each year if certain requirements are met.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated from establishing administrative policies to implement the provisions of the bill. Because the day off on September 11 would be in lieu of other paid leave time and would not be approved if there was not sufficient staffing available, there would not be a cost related to salaries.
