FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 20, 2009

TO:
Honorable Troy Fraser, Chair, Senate Committee on Business & Commerce

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2223 by Parker (Relating to notice to certain homeowners regarding residential construction warranties.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Property Code to require the Texas Residential Construction Commission (TRCC) to send a notice to certain homeowners, nine months after the registration of a home, regarding the applicable home warranty provisions and certain information regarding the state sponsored inspection and dispute resolution process.

Based on the analysis of TRCC, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
