LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 7, 2009

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2279 by Thompson (Relating to the provision of and billing for certain diagnostic imaging services.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize a licensing authority that licenses or regulates a health care provider to adopt rules and take disciplinary action against a health care provider who violates the provisions of the bill with regard to performing diagnostic imaging services and billing for that service.

Based on the analysis of the Texas Board of Nursing, the Texas Medical Board, the Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and the Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
