April 16, 2009

TO:
Honorable Todd Hunter, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence

FROM:

IN RE:
HB2349 by Dutton (Relating to reporting certain information on the Internet relating to cases heard by administrative law judges employed by the State Office of Administrative Hearings.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code requiring the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) to post a quarterly report on the agency's internet website showing the number of cases heard by each administrative law judge (ALJ) from the previous quarter. The bill includes requirements of what should be included in the report and requires each ALJ employed by SOAH to provide the required information to SOAH no later than the 10th day after the last day of each quarter.

Based on the analysis of SOAH, duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished utilizing existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
