IN RE: | HB2383 by Kolkhorst (Relating to the receipt and release of immunization information by the immunization registry in connection with a disaster.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted |
The bill authorizes the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to exchange immunization records with other state and local health departments during disasters or emergencies involving evacuations or relocations; this includes releasing information from the immunization registry maintained by DSHS and including information received from other states in the immunization registry. The bill also requires the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission to make every effort to enter into memorandums of agreement regarding the exchange and use of registry information with other states to which residents of Texas are likely to evacuate in a disaster. It is assumed that any cost associated with activities required under the bill can be absorbed within existing agency resources.
