LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 22, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joe Deshotel, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2429 by Deshotel (Relating to return-to-work coordination services and the return-to-work reimbursement program for employers participating in the Texas workers' compensation system.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Labor Code to continue the Return-to-Work reimbursement program and allow the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) to adopt rules as necessary to implement the program.  The bill would expand the existing pilot program at TDI.  Based on the analysis of TDI, any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
