LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 1, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2635 by Guillen (Relating to the issuance of Municipal Judge and Justice of the Peace specialty license plates.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to issue specialty license plates for Municipal Judges and Justices of the Peace. The bill would create a fee of $10 for the first set of license plates and $15 for each additional set of license plates.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact to State Highway Fund revenue and any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
