LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable Yvonne Davis, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2679 by Davis, Yvonne (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of municipal management districts.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Subchapter P to Chapter 375, Local Government Code, to authorize two or more municipal management districts to consolidate into one district. The bill provides the procedures and requirements that must be followed for consolidating two or more districts and for governing the consolidated district.

Local Government Impact

Included in the requirements for consolidating two or more districts is a requirement that each affected district hold an election on the issue, which would be the primary cost associated with implementing provisions of the bill.
