FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 5, 2009

TO:
Honorable Dennis Bonnen, Chair, House Committee on Land & Resource Management

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2705 by Gattis (Relating to the level of maintenance and landscaping required for public rights-of-way annexed by a municipality.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 43.056 of the Local Government Code to require a municipality to create a service plan to provide for maintenance and landscaping public rights-of-way in an area that has been annexed by the municipality that is comparable to those available to public rights-of-way in the municipality.

Local Government Impact

Costs to municipalities to maintain a comparable level of maintenance and landscaping would depend on the individual areas annexed by a particular municipality.
