IN RE: | HB2793 by Homer (Relating to the issuance of an original or renewal driver's license to certain persons younger than 18 years of age.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Transportation Code (Chapter 521) by stating the Department of Public Safety (DPS) may not issue an original or renewal license to an applicant who is at least 17 years old and holds a provisional license unless the applicant provides information to DPS about successfully completing a driver education course. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.
This analysis assumes any additional Department of Public Safety costs for the provisions of the bill can be absorbed within current appropriations.
