LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 19, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joe Deshotel, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2795 by Homer (Relating to consumer goods and services covered under the Texas Telemarketing Disclosure and Privacy Act.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Business & Commerce Code to add "a contractual service" to the definition of consumer good and service, including the extension of a warranty for a motor vehicle. The bill would require the Public Utility Commission to adopt rules to amend existing rules relating to "no-call" lists.

The Public Utility Commission indicates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
