LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 23, 2009

TO:
Honorable Joseph Pickett, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2985 by Phillips (Relating to the registration of for-hire motor carriers of passengers by the Texas Department of Transportation.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to revoke or deny the registration of a for-hire motor carriers of passengers if the motor carrier is required to register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the federal registration is denied, revoked, suspended or otherwise terminated.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
