No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends Transportation Code, Chapter 521 to state the record of a license holder who is employed as a peace officer, fire fighter, or emergency medical services employee of this state, a political subdivision of this state, or a special purpose district may not include information relating to a traffic accident that occurs while the license holder was driving an official vehicle in the course of official duties if the accident resulted in damages to property of less than $1,000 or an investigation by a peace officer uninvolved in the accident determines the peace officer, fire fighter, or emergency medical services employee involved in the accident was not at fault. The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.

The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact from the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
