TO: | Honorable Jim McReynolds, Chair, House Committee on Corrections |
FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB3005 by Coleman (Relating to the mandatory testing of persons suspected of exposing employees of a juvenile probation department to certain diseases.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend Section 81.050(b) of the Health and Safety Code adding an employee of the juvenile probation department to the list of individuals who can request the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) or a health authority to order testing of another person who may have exposed the person to a reportable disease, including HIV infection.
The bill would take effect immediately if it receives two-thirds vote in both houses; otherwise it would take effect September 1, 2009.
DSHS estimates that any cost can be absorbed within existing resources.
