LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 31, 2009

TO:
Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3087 by Kuempel (Relating to the regulation of the towing and storage of certain motor vehicles.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the operator of a vehicle storage facility to send an electronic notification to each local law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the area from which a vehicle is towed when the vehicle is the subject of a nonconsent tow. The bill would require the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to adopt rules to implement these provisions.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicates that any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
