Honorable Patrick M. Rose, Chair, House Committee on Human Services
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB3225 by Madden (Relating to the license requirements for a chemical dependency counselor.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 504, Occupations Code, by removing the oral examination requirement for a chemical dependency counselor license, requiring a certificate verifying that an applicant is enrolled in a peer assistance program, and reducing from five years to three the period during which a license may not be issued due to conviction or placement on community supervision for certain offenses. The Department of State Health Services indicates that any costs to implement the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
