IN RE:	HB3327 by Castro (Relating to the duties of the interagency obesity council and the Department of Agriculture relating to health, wellness, and prevention of obesity.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to the duties of the Interagency Obesity Council and the Department of Agriculture (TDA) relating to health, wellness, and prevention of obesity.  The bill would require the council to create an evidence-based public health awareness plan and study the feasibility, practicality, and potential benefit, cost, and revenue associated with creating a state-endorsed "healthy food and beverage" designation.

TDA and the University of Texas System Administration estimate there would be a minimal cost associated with implementing the provisions of the bill.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2009.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
