LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 81ST LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2009

TO:
Honorable Edmund Kuempel, Chair, House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3331 by Pierson (Relating to local option alcoholic beverage elections to change the status of an existing voting unit.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 251.72, Alcoholic Beverage Code, to require that a subsequent local option election be held within the boundaries of the authorized voting unit as the voting unit existed on the date of the election; the results of the election would be effective within those boundaries. The bill would create an exception in a justice precinct in a county containing only one justice precinct, and would stipulate that provisions of Section 251.80 would apply only to such a county.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
